Radical Democrat Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, had received $500,000 in government aid, an addition to the millions of dollars he had racked up during the Democrat’s election campaign.

Mynett is a co-owner of E Street Group, a D.C.-based political consulting firm that had previously handled Omar’s campaign. According to Breitbart News, public records showed that the firm had reportedly received $135,000 in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. As if the number was not enough, Mynett also bagged another $500,000 in Economic Injury Disaster loans.

Generally, the bailout loans were supposed to be given as relief to small businesses that were struggling from the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Interestingly, the E Street Group listed in their LinkedIn profile that they only had 11 to 50 employees.

Aside from receiving federal money, the group also received nearly three million dollars from the Omar campaign during the 2019-2020 election cycle. The sum compromises 70 percent of the Democrat’s campaign funding. Omar’s payments to the consulting firm included $110,000 for digital advertising. The payments were divided into several payouts, with $5,000 for digital consulting, $12,000 for fundraising consulting, and over $11,000 for digital and literature production. The sum also included Mynett’s travel expenses in which Omar had paid for. The dubious payments sparked a complaint from a Republican Organization on the Federal Election Commission.

Aside from Omar’s payment, the firm also received funding from left-wing politicians, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal and the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

In November, Omar also announced that she is cutting off her ties with Mynett’s political firm. In a statement, the Democrat claimed that she had decided to terminate her contract with the E Street Group to assure her supporters that all her payments were legitimate. “Every dollar that was spent went to a team of more than twenty that were helping us fight back against attacks and organize on the ground and online in a COVID-19 world,” Omar said.

She also blasted issues that Mynett had received millions of dollars from her campaign. In fact, Omar argued that her husband did not receive any profit, save for his salary. Both Mynett and Omar had previously sparked controversy over their alleged affair. Despite their constant denials, the pair got married this year.

The Democrat also won her second term in Congress, as she defeated Republican challenger, Lacy Johnson for Minnesota’s 5th district. Moreover, Omar also won against Democratic challenger, Anton Melton-Meaux.
