In a recent article by The New York Times, the left-wing media outlet declared that while Democrats were successful in electing former Vice-President Joe Biden into the White House, they continued to suffer “crushing losses.”

The article came as NYT’s post-election analysis. In their op-ed, the media outlet claimed that the left-wing party continued to lose seats in Congress and even failed to control more state legislatures before next year’s redistricting.

According to the publication, NYT cites that a growing suburban backlash against President Donald Trump was able to make way for Biden’s win. Unfortunately, the media outlet claimed such luck did not extend to other Democratic positions. In fact, they believed that Biden’s election does not necessarily translate to support for left-wing policies. “From the top of the party down to the state level, Democratic officials are awakening to the reality that voters may have delivered a one-time verdict on Mr. Trump that does not equal ongoing support for center-left policies,” NYT wrote.

The media outlet continued by describing the President’s administration as a “clown show” and that the one-time vote does not necessarily mean that Americans are “‘embracing” Democratic values. NYT even argued that people who voted for the former Vice-President only did so out of desperation to put a stop to the “‘insanity” that Trump had displayed in the White House.

While the media outlet claimed that Trump might have lost his re-election bid, it did not stop the Republican Party from gaining more support. NYT explained that Trump’s coalition breaks free from traditional “egalitarian” principles and the idea of “globalization.” It also discards Democratic beliefs that the only way to boost the country’s economy is through the help of billionaires and migrants.

On the other hand, Trump shared something “extraordinary” by refocusing the economy among the working class. To point this out, data showed that Trump was able to redistribute wealth in such a way that while rich people were able to enjoy marginal wealth, other economic groups were able to “vault ahead.” In fact, NYT cites that the Trump administration saw a sudden rise in low-income earnings for the first time in a decade.

This is further reinforced by Trump’s growing support among Blacks and Latino. Even liberal Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez admitted that the Democrats had lost support among people of color.

Worse, House Democrats might also face the possibility that their majority will continue to shrink. This might depend on the Supreme Court ruling in a court case filed by the Trump administration.

According to the lawsuit, the Republicans seek to exclude illegal aliens from the calculations that would determine the number of House seats that every state can get. According to a report from the Free Beacon, Democrats are expected to lose the House in 2022 due to the reapportionment.
