On Monday, Hollywood actor Robert De Niro claimed that he was angry and enraged by Trump voters who had bought the President’s crazy antics and gave way for his 2016 Presidential win.

In an interview with the left-wing media outlet, MSNBC, De Niro blasted President Donald Trump and his supporters for allowing him to win in the past election. During the interview, the media network played some of the actor’s notorious mobster roles. Then, the show’s host asked De Niro what he could learn from some of the characters he had played over the years, and whether Americans were so “carried away” by these mobster movies.

De Niro responded that as an actor, he naturally enjoyed the parts that he had starred in. He went on to say that he believed these tough men had a sense of dignity among them, “somewhere buried there,” he said. However, unlike these characters, he believed that Trump does not have a sense of depth or dignity. In fact, he believed that the President had “no center” as if he is floating around, “defying gravity.”

He went on to say that this is precisely why the country had established rules, laws, and an overall sense of structure. He noted that without these structures, there would be chaos and anarchy. This is why De Niro believed America needs a “father figure” who would guide America in these trying times. He claimed that the country needed a leader who would show them love and care, and encouraged people to choose someone that is the opposite of Trump. During the discussion, he touted Biden and his running mate, Sen Kamala Harris as the perfect person to fill in such roles and become the country’s next leader.

De Niro then stated that he had remained confounded by how Trump was able to win the White House despite the “crazy” things that he had done. He added, “I’m not like political, but I was so angry and so enraged and confounded that he would actually behave the way he did and that people bought it.”

In his interview, the actor concluded that he knew many Americans who felt the same way that he does, adding that he felt sorry for those who do not share the same sentiment. He then blasted MAGA supporters for voting and accepting Trump despite his qualities. Despite his lengthy tirade, De Niro claims that he remained unsure how people like Trump were able to win positions of power.

Watch:

While the actor claimed that he had not been overly “political,” this is not the first time he criticized the President. Back in May, the actor accused Trump of being a “lunatic” who does not care about his own supporters.

Then in 2018, De Niro began his Tony acceptance speech with the words “F*ck Trump!” where he was met with resounding applause from the audience.
