AOC Refuses to Say Whether She’d Support Pelosi as House Speaker
On Sunday, radical Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seemed to suggest a growing tension between her and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as she refused to admit whether she would support the Democrat in her re-election bid.
In an interview with Jake Tapper, the CNN host asked AOC whether she would support the Speaker’s election campaign. The Democrat immediately responded that her support would go to the “most progressive” candidate. AOC even concluded that she might give out her vote to someone else, that is, if the House Speaker failed to measure up.
The freshman lawmaker began by saying that despite the growing division in the Democratic party, they are still bound by the common goal to win the White House. She explained that right now, their focus is on winning “tight swing races.”
However, the Democrat shared that she is not closing her door against any candidate. In fact, she declared that she would choose anyone who aligned with the same radical belief as she does. “I am committed to making sure that we have the most progressive candidate there. But, if Speaker Pelosi is that most progressive candidate, then I will be supporting her.”
There is no love lost between the two key political figures in the Democratic Party. In fact, Pelosi’s opinions heavily clashed against AOC’s progressive ideals. Several of these issues center around key policies such as immigration and included arguments against the President’s earlier impeachment trial. While the two had previous misgivings, they allegedly reconciled their differences in a private meeting in 2019.
AOC’s response came amidst the reports that the House Speaker, who is already 79 and had served in the House for more than 30 years, still plans to run for another election.

In the same interview, AOC also blasted the idea of Democracy by saying that bipartisan politics is only a ploy of “Republican manipulation.” The progressive lawmaker also stated her intention to push the Democratic party to the far-left if former Vice President and Democratic nominee Joe Biden wins in the upcoming 2020 general elections.
She also plans to unseat Republicans to take full control of the Senate and ensure that the Democrats are at the majority. “We have the unique, frankly, once-in-a-generation opportunity to have the White House, the Senate, and the House majorities Democratically-controlled.”
The lawmaker continued by saying that the Democratic party has an obligation to the American people to prove what they can accomplish. AOC added that they have the responsibility to show the people that the Democratic vote is truly “worth it” and away from the “flatline of bipartisan ideas” that the Republican-run administration continued to deploy.
AOC also vowed to remain consistent in her role to push for the Democratic party and establish an inclusive government that will serve the people. Some of AOC’s radical plans include defunding and abolishing the police and destroying suburban communities to make way for low-cost housing.
