On Tuesday, the “squad” led by Democratic lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez along with another far-left politician, Ilhan Omar, teamed up with controversial Turks commentator Hasan Piker in a Twitch Livestream gaming event.

In an effort to encourage young people to vote, AOC joined a Twitch live-stream, where she boasted an “amazing line-up of gamers.” The set includes the controversial vlogger, in which the Democrat thanked for being able to hold the event at the last minute. Currently, the Democrat drew in 439,000 peak viewers.

The squad’s guest choice is a little concerning, especially since Piker had issued statements against the country’s national security. In fact, in 2019, the commentator declared that the country deserved the fatal 9/11 attack. At that time, Piker was reacting to a clip of Republican lawmaker, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, on foreign policy. The vlogger began by saying that Crenshaw’s approach to foreign policy is completely immature and even compared his views to a 12-year old. Piker then continued by making fun of the lawmaker’s eye injury, which he obtained while serving in the United States military. “Didn’t he go to war and like literally lose his eye because some mujahideen a brave f+cking soldier—f+cked his eye hole with their d++?” the vlogger ranted.

After his all-out rant, Piker finally concluded that “America deserved 9/11, dude. F*** it, I’m saying it.” The vlogger immediately saw a massive backlash for his insensitive comments. However, instead of issuing an apology, Piker attempted to defend his statements. In a Twitter post, the vlogger concluded that the country’s foreign policy decision led to the 9/11 attack. The vlogger continued by saying that it was the country that had supplied firearms and trained terrorists like Bin Laden.

Moreover, he also accused America of being responsible for the destabilization in the middle eastern region. As a result, Piker believed that the events led the country in a “perpetual war,” noting that people like Crenshaw are the ones enabling it. In fact, Piker suggested that the likes of Crenshaw are the ones responsible for sending thousands of American troops overseas to die.

In response, the Republican lawmaker blasted Piker for what he believed as his distorted perception of reality. Crenshaw claimed that Piker seemed to confuse his work with improvised explosive devices with some “weird terrorist fantasy.” The lawmaker also added that Piker should stop trying to be funny because he is not.

Contrary to Piker’s allegation that a terrorist had caused Crenshaw’s injury, the Republican lawmaker stated that his injuries were a result of an IED blast during a mission in Helmand, Afghanistan. As a result of the blast, Crenshaw’s right eye suffered permanent damage. Fortunately, doctors were able to help him regain sight in his left eye.

Despite his permanent eye injury, Crenshaw returned from duty and served two more military missions. As a result of his bravery, the Republican was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
