The Michigan Supreme Court has struck down the law that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been using to keep the state in lockdown. The decision basically is freeing the residents from the harsh methods being used by the state government to keep them in their homes since April of this year.

Whitmer has repeatedly extended the state of emergency for the state as she cited a law that dates back to the 1940s to give authority to her decision. Most recently, she has extended the state of emergency until October 27th.

According to the court’s decision, the Emergency Powers of Governor Act is “in violation of the Constitution of our state because it purports to delegate to the executive branch the legislative powers of state government–including its plenary police powers–and to allow the exercise of such powers indefinitely. As a consequence, the EPGA cannot continue to provide a basis for the Governor to exercise emergency powers.”

The Speaker of the state legislature praised the decision on Twitter. “The Supreme Court ruled today in agreement with the legislature that the 1945 law is unconstitutional. The governor had no right to extend the state of emergency over the Legislature’s objection. Our Constitution matters, and this was a big win for our democratic process.”

Various groups have fought against the aggressive lockdown measure in the state since it was too harsh and it is ruining the economy of Michigan. Whitmer, like other Democrat local officials, is just enforcing lockdowns to ruin the economy so it can be blamed on the President. They are willing to see the whole country fall into ruin as long as they can gain political points.

Like other Democrat officials, Whitmer is willing to get the whole state in lockdown, as she and her friends and family don’t have to follow the rules. Whitmer’s husband used her influence in order to retrieve a boat during the lockdown when it was not permitted for anyone else. Like other Democrats, she is willing to use her influence for her own personal benefit.
