Bishop Rick Stika of Tennessee questioned Joe Biden’s faith as a Roman Catholic on Friday. He was basing his criticism on the former vice president’s stance when it comes to abortion. “Don’t understand how Mr. Biden can claim to be a good and faithful Catholic as he denies so much of Church teaching especially on the absolute child abuse and human rights violations of the most innocent, the not yet born,” Stika posted on Friday.

The Catholic Church considers abortion to be a grave sin, equivalent to the murder of innocent children. They hold that an unborn child is a person and has a soul ready. One who is a practicing Catholic should hold on to these beliefs since it deals with a grievous sin. In the eyes of the Catholic church, condoning abortion is the equivalent of murder.

Biden has repeatedly expressed his support for abortion. He has even promised to repeal the Hyde and Helms Amendments that protect taxpayers who do not believe in abortions to having to fund them. In a separate tweet, the Bishop criticized Biden’s choice for vice president. He noted that Hariss has a history of being prejudiced against the Catholic church. He also praised President Donald Trump for being anti-abortion and for having a positive stance on religious liberty.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue has also criticized Harris for her attacks on Catholics while in the senate. Donohue claims that Harris is anti-Catholic as evidenced by her by attacking Catholic judicial nominees. She suggested that a federal district court nominee must be disqualified because he is a member of the Knights of Columbus. The Knights is an organization for Roman Catholics and it follows Catholic doctrine closely. Harris claims that because the Knights are pro-life, they should be disqualified from being nominated.

Biden’s choice of Harris as his VP could seriously hurt his appeal to Catholic voters. His own stance is problematic as well. His claim that he is Catholic while pandering to the far-left pro-abortion crowd is a typical tactic of the Democrats. They try to pander and promise things to everyone without ever doing any of the things that they have promised.
