Vocal Trump critic and Hollywood actress Bette Midler believed that former Vice President Joe Biden’s speech at the Democratic National Convention was so great, his rival, President Donald Trump would never get close to powerful performance.

The actress posted her thoughts on social media by calling out the U.S. President as a “‘miserable toad.” Midler wrote, “F**K YOU, #TRUMP! You’ll never get close to that speech, you miserable toad!”

Previously, Midler lashed out against the President by accusing him of plotting to cheat his way in the upcoming 2020 general elections. The actress wrote, “IF HE WINS AGAIN, HE WILL RULE YOU UNTIL HE DIES, YOU DIE, OR BOTH. THEN… YOU’LL GET IVANKA.”

Members of the mainstream media also praised Biden for his speech. On Thursday, CNN host Jake Tapper described the nominee’s speech as his best performance so far. In a discussion, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer said that Biden had delivered a “‘truly blistering attack” against the administration, adding that the former vice president really went after Trump. Blitzer added that the DNC speech was one of the most important moments of Joe Biden’s career and that fortunately, he was able to deliver it well.

Tapper chimed in by saying that Trump failed at his primary responsibility to protect the American people, and describing such acts as “unforgivable.” He continued by saying that he had watched Biden deliver numerous speeches over the years, but by far, “this was one of the best if not the best performance I’ve ever seen.” The CNN host concluded that Trump’’s campaign team had set the bar to low for Biden to deliver a powerful speech and that “Sleepy Joe” was able to go beyond expectations.

In his speech, Biden claimed that it is an extremely dark time in American history and that he would be the person who can lead America out of that darkness. He also cited four major crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic downturn, climate change, and racial injustice, as he made a brief reference to George Floyd.

Just like the Obamas, Biden believed that Trump continued to stoke anger and division in America, and gave out the promise that if Americans trusted him to get the presidency, he would raise the best of the country, and not the worst as Trump did.

In the course of the entire convention, speakers continued to drive in the message that in his four years at the White House, Trump failed to prove that he was indeed capable of leading the nation. However, Trump refused to back down. He immediately responded to Biden’s speech by saying that in a 47-year long career, Trump claimed that he had failed to do the things that he had promised in his speech.
