Andrew Cuomo is rushing the release of his book so that it will be out before the election in November. The book will give an insight into how his “leadership” handled the coronavirus pandemic, which hit the state of New York quite severely. Coincidentally, the pandemic is not over yet, and it is still affecting New York and the rest of the country, which has become the global center of the pandemic. Entitled American Crisis: Lessons and Leadership from the Covid-19 Pandemic, the book will be out by October 13. It may not be available in New York City, where most of the bookstores are still boarded up because of the pandemic.

Releasing a book about his pandemic experience seems a bit too early, especially since the pandemic is still raging, and people are still dying because of it now. It also seems to be in bad taste, considering how Cuomo is being accused of mismanaging the state’s response to the disease. He gave a controversial order that required nursing homes to take place in patients from hospitals who tested positive for coronavirus. That order is being blamed for the high death rate in New York nursing homes. He is being blamed directly for those thousands of deaths. He also waited too long before he ordered the closure of schools and other public facilities. That decision also contributed to making New York the global epicenter of the virus. A recent investigation found out that the nursing home deaths in the state might be higher than the official numbers. There might be an official cover-up in the works being done to hide the real numbers. But Cuomo has brushed the criticisms of the way that he handled the pandemic. He claims that the criticisms of him are just politically motivated attacks.

At the very least, the book is a risky move on Cuomo’s part, especially because the pandemic is still raging, and there is still no vaccine that has been found. Things could get even worse. Cuomo is basically saying that he has been successful in the way that he handled the virus.
