Two teams of the WNBA staged a walkout during the singing of the national anthem before their game started on Saturday. All the players from the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty walked out of the basketball court as a sign of their protest against racism and police brutality or whatever vague injustice they are supposedly fighting against. On top of that walkout stunt, there was also a 26-second moment of silence. The moment of silence was meant to honor 26-year-old Breonna Taylor who unfortunately was shot and killed by Louisville police. The players also wore Taylor’s name on their jerseys for the game.

A player named Layshia Clarendon explained all the woke stuff that they were doing before tip-off. “We are dedicating this season to Breonna Taylor, an outstanding EMT who was murdered over 130 days ago in her home. Breonna Taylor was dedicated and committed to uplifting everyone around here. We are also dedicating this season to ‘Say Her Name” campaign, a campaign committed to saying the names and fighting for justice of black women—black women are so often forgotten in this fight for justice, who don’t have people marching in the streets for them. We will say her name. Sandra Bland. Atatiana Jefferson. Dominique Remy Fells. Breonna Taylor. We will be a voice for the voiceless.”

Professional athletes are trying to outdo each other now in doing woke stuff that would pander to the leftist crowd. Unfortunately for them. Most sports fans are not really into the far-left ideologies when it comes to politics. These actions of professional athletes to promote leftist politics is not sitting well with many sports fans who just want to enjoy watching games. That’s the reason why a lot of people hated Colin Kaepernick and Bubba Wallace, sports personalities who became famous for their highly political actions. The one thing common between those two is that they are mediocre athletes at best, who would be unknown if not for the stunts they pulled off.

The same thing can be said of the WNBA, a professional basketball league that no one watches. Basketball fans do not really care about WNBA since the level of play there is unexciting and not worth watching. The league is desperate to increase its relevance and viewership by trying to perform some political action that can create publicity. This move will backfire however, because woke grandstanding will not make up for lack of talent in sports.
