According to campaign filings, son of Fox Corporation founder, Rupert Murdoch, and his wife, were among the top donors of former Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden’s campaign.

In a report from the New York Times, Kenneth Vogel, he cites that based on the Federal Election Commission (FEC) receipts, James Murdoch was among the top donors for the Democratic nominee. Their contributions?

A whopping $1.23 million.

Initially, the couple each gave $615,000 to the Biden Victory Fund as a part of a fundraising effort between Biden’s team and the Democrat National Committee (DNC).

However, this is not the first time that Murdoch gave a million-dollar donation to the left-wing campaign. Back in April, he had given $2,800 to former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s campaign. The sum was considered as the largest possible contribution for a primary candidate. During a summit for the Vanity Fair, Murdoch gave his support to the gay-army veteran, saying that Buttigieg had the “composure, character, thoughtfulness, courage to handle some of the hardest challenges that we have.”

James had a long-standing feud against Fox Corporation’s conservative view. Previously, he claimed that he had refused to watch Fox News and complained about how his favorite longtime news anchor, Shepard Smith, had moved on with CNBC. Murdoch himself has openly expressed his disdain against Fox News, saying that there are views I really disagree with on Fox.” He also revealed that due to their contrasting views, there are “periods in time” in which he and his father did not speak.

James and his wife constantly held liberal views. Previously, the couple issued a statement criticizing Fox’s corporations over their “climate change denial.” The Murdochs expressed their frustration, especially with the forest fire in Australia.

Moreover, James had also served as a former CEO of 21st Century Fox. However, the younger Murdoch left the Fox Empire in March and created his own investment group, the Lupa Systems, and was constantly compared to his brother, Lachlan Murdoch, who had embraced more conservative views.

Overall, the couple had given way for Biden’s successful campaign, as they were able to raise a whopping $100 million in donations during the second quarter.

According to a Florida businessman, John Morgan, he revealed that, contrary to the party’s socialist views, capitalists were one of Biden’s big-time donors. Morgan explained how capitalists saw two-time failed Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders a threat, “They were petrified of Trump and horrified by Bernie. Now they actually have a choice, before they didn’t,” Morgan said.

While the President was busy dealing with the coronavirus crisis, Biden and the rest of the Democratic party pounced on the opportunity to raise more money. Overall, Biden had raised $282 million as compared to Trump’s $266 million.
