On Sunday. Rep. Maxine Waters claimed that President Donald Trump, along with his MAGA supporters, wanted to make sure that blacks and people of color would not “rise to any level of influence and power.”

In an interview with MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” the show’s host Joy Reid began by comparing the glaring discrepancies in the country’s justice system. The host cited the case of Roger Stone, who was commuted after being found guilty on seven criminal counts. On the other hand, Reid said Kalief Browder had allegedly stolen a backpack and committed suicide while awaiting trial in Rikers Island. The host then concluded that there are “two systems of justice” in the country, one is for the rich, and one for the poor. Stone then questioned the Democrat about her opinion for people who “criticize” the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Waters responded that Trump, along with MAGA supporters, wanted to have “absolute power.” The lawmaker then shared a conspiracy theory as she claimed that GOP supporters “believe that it is their right and their responsibility to ensure that blacks and people of color and others do not rise to any level of influence and power.” Waters believed that it is the only way for the conservatives to take charge of the country.

She continued that as proof of America’s “justice system is broken.” Waters claimed that often, many “young black men and women” had received long jail sentences. The Democrats believed that justice had never been in their favor and is, in fact, a tool for “suppression” and “oppression.” She also warned that while people might continue to criticize the movement, the Black Lives Matter movement is gaining momentum and has received a lot of support among “whites and blacks and Asians and old and young.” Waters ended her statement by saying that “Something is wrong with our criminal justice system. Something is wrong with our policing. It is racism.”

However, Water’s fellow African-American, and conservative economics, Thomas Sowell, disagreed. Sowell explained that the term “systemic racism,” which has been closely linked to the Black Lives Matter movement, does in fact, carry “no meaning.”
In an interview on Fox News’ Life, Liberty and Levin. Sowell explained that the term has “no meaning that can be specified and tested in the way that one tests hypotheses.” Instead, he claimed that it was just a part of “propaganda tactics,” such as one that was employed by Nazi Germany.

Sowell explained that when a message or a phrase gets repeated over and over again, over a long period of time, people begin to believe it.

The 90-year old academe had attended the University of Chicago. From there, he studied conservatism in favor of socialism and had since devoted his studies in questioning the left-wing dogma. In 2017, Sowell claimed that President Donald Trump is the first Republican president who had really addressed and made “serious attempts” to get the black vote by focusing on important aspects such as education.
