Far-left Democrat, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, refused to acknowledge the damning economic and social impact of the New York City riots. Instead, the Democrat chose to pin the blame on the surge of violence as a result of the recent unemployment.

On Thursday, AOC said in a virtual town hall, that the “uptick” in crime might simply be attributed to President Donald Trump’s incompetence in handling the millions of job losses. In the video, she began by setting the record straight that the New York City Police Department was “has not been defunded.” She claimed that the “budgetary changes” that City Council had “proposed” were yet implemented and denied the fact that “it was not really a billion-dollar in cash.” She even had the audacity to say that the “these cuts weren’t even real.” However, the lawmaker failed to provide a fact for her seemingly bizarre statement.

“Literally have not happened yet,” AOC said, referring to the budget cuts from the NYPD. She continued by saying that since the proposal had not been implemented yet, the uptick in crime is still within the $6 billion budget.

AOC believed that the $ 6 billion budget for law enforcement was not enough to prevent the surge of crime in New York City. AOC added that the government is only “shoving more and more money” every year to the NYPD, but has still failed to provide the safety and security in New York City. Then, she suggested that violence might have something to do with the record low unemployment. “The fact that people are at a level of economic desperation that we have not seen since the Great Recession?” the lawmaker asked.

She concluded that parents cannot pay rent without any decent jobs and are forced to go out and loot to feed their children. AOC went on that people have to make tough choices, “so they feel like they either need to shoplift some bread or go hungry.”

Watch:

As the ongoing protests continued, the New York Post reported that 15 shootings had already taken place within 15 hours. In fact, the city experienced a violent Fourth of July celebration with an overwhelming 44 shooting incidents, which had left eight people dead.

This is not the first time that Ocasio-Cortez had made delusional statements against the NYPD. In fact, she had previously criticized Mayor Bill de Blasio’s nearly $1 billion budget cut, saying that when they protest to defund the police, they truly mean it without any funny maths or calculations.

Moreover, she also made a previous claim that a world without the police would look like a “suburb.”

Watch:

As a result of being constantly demonized by the media, and the lack of support from elected officials, and even violent threats, the NYPD is experiencing record-low morale and even a surge of early retirement.
