A columnist for the New York Times is urging presidential candidate Joe Biden to make changes to the debate terms before he faces off with President Donald Trump. This just signifies how afraid the establishment is with the possibility of their candidate running one-on-one with the incumbent President. They know that with his declining abilities he will surely look like a fool when he tries to challenge the president.

Thomas Friedman, a political affairs columnist for the New York Times wrote that “I worry about Joe Biden debating Donald Trump. He should do it only under two conditions. Otherwise, he’s giving Trump unfair advantages.” He gave two conditions that should be met before Biden agrees to debate Trump. The first one is that the President should release his tax returns and that the second one is that a team of fact-checkers approved by both campaigns should be included in the debates.

There has been nothing similar in the past. Presidential candidates were just expected to debate. It was the best way for the voters to measure the ability of each candidate. It is also an opportunity for the candidates to present their policies and proposals to the country.

But many Democrats are now worried that their nominee is not up to the challenge. There has been speculation that Biden is not really capable of going on the debate stage with someone who is as aggressive as Trump. There are even those who are wondering if he is capable of running for president. Questions regarding his cognitive capacity had been raised in the past few months. There have been several instances where he seems to be unaware of where he is or what date it is. For his latest gaffe, Biden introduced himself to an audience of teachers by saying, “I’m Joe Biden’s Husband, Joe Biden.”

That’s not the only problem with Biden. He has also been accused of sexual assault by a former employee. But the mainstream media has been defending him and trying to shield him by downplaying all of his wrong moves and not reporting the details of his sexual assault accusations.

The Democrats are now afraid of the kind of performance that Biden will have when he goes on the stage with Trump. The President is sure to attack him and he may not be able to handle that. But Trump may not have to attack Biden at all because, at the end of the day, Biden is his open worst enemy.
