Left-wing media outlet CNN, have constantly demonized Mount Rushmore as a glaring symbol of “white supremacy.” However, the network’s host, Don Lemon, might just have the solution to make it right (and less racist).

His suggestion? Why not add former President Obama to the monument, along with the great American presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.

The host believed that adding Obama to the iconic historical monument will eventually resolve the ongoing protests in the U.S. Lemon began by saying, “You see the right-wing machine kick in, media kick in and see Trump’s poll numbers go south.” He also accused the “right-wing media” of depicting the Black Lives Matter movement as a trigger that led to a surge in crime rates, as well as the increasing demands to defund the police.

“Is this what you want from Joe Biden?” Lemon asked. He added that GOP supporters continue to support the “right-wing media’s” narrative by fueling the fear and anger against the BLM movement. The host claimed that right-wing supporters might go on and paint against the protester’s signages, believing that it was not what America stood for.

However, Lemon claimed that a “rich diversity” of people had built this nation. He believed that most of the people who have helped in building America were slaves and were not paid to do it; neither were they given access to education. These people were also prohibited from accumulating wealth and status. With this, he stated that Mount Rushmore does not represent America. “If they are going to put someone on Mount Rushmore, considering the history of the country, the first black president should be front and center,” Lemon concluded.

His co-host Chris Cuomo also chimed in. He believed that adding Obama to the monument was way better than completely desecrating the historic landmark. Lemon responded that he doesn’t see anything wrong with people coming together to “reshaping” and “rethinking” the country’s priorities, adding that America “belongs to everyone.”

The host concluded that the historical monument meant different things for some people. He pointed out that for Native Americans, it is considered stolen land. Lemon believed that it only became Mount Rushmore 40 years ago when the administration decided to “carve president’s faces,” adding that no one was able to benefit from such a venture.

Lemon was referring to an article that was published from the British media outlet The Guardian, who quoted Nick Tilsen, a member of the Oglala Lakota tribe and leader of the Indigenous activist group NDN Collective. Tilsen claimed that for Native Americans, the monument served as a reminder of “white supremacy,” adding that he wanted to see it desecrated and returned to its rightful owners, the indigenous people.

This is not the first time that establishment media have criticized the historic landmark. In a report from The Patriot Hill, MSNBC host Tiffany Cross also condemned President Donald Trump’s decision to host his Independence Day rally on the iconic monument. Cross explained that the move only highlights the racial issues in the U.S., adding that the fourth of July celebration serves as an “independence day for white men.”
