Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (D) campaign co-chair slammed actress Debra Messing over her “racist” attack on Twitter on rapper Kanye West.

The staunch Democrat accused the Grammy-winning rapper and billionaire business mogul Kanye West of “taking young black votes from Biden” by announcing his own interests in running for president.

On Saturday, Kanye West tweeted his desire to run for president of the United States, saying that he aims to unify America. Although West did not explicitly say when he planned to run, he included #2020Vision hashtag in his tweet, suggesting that it could be this year.

Although West’s run seems unlikely at this point, it still triggered avid left-wing supporter Debra Messing. The actress took to Twitter and accused West of trying to steal “black votes” from Joe Biden.

Messing responded to a tweet that described West as a “RedHat wearing MAGA lunatic” planning to strip away the support for Biden at the last minute.

Messing’s tweet reached Sanders’s spokeswoman Nina Turner, who declared Messing’s comments as “racist.”

“Your connotation is racist. 1. Black voters are not owned by anyone. Our vote should be earned every election cycle. 2. We can think for ourselves & don’t need your help. 3. Sometimes it’s best to stay out of family business,” a clearly offended Turner wrote on her Twitter account.

Messing is notorious for her ill-worded comments and spreading unchecked information on her social media. Last September, she thanked a Baptist church in Alabama for calling black supporters of Donald Trump “mentally ill.” Then just recently, the actress shared an edited photo of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler holding a Bible, resembling President Trump’s pose when he stood in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church. It turned out that Hitler’s photo was manipulated, and there was never any photo of him holding a Bible like that.
