Joe Biden is delaying the announcement of who will be his running mate for the elections. This is a sign that his campaign is having a hard time picking who will be a suitable and a strong running mate for the former vice president. This does not mean that there is a lack of choices because a lot of names have been floated around as possible candidates.

Biden revealed to reporters on Tuesday after making a speech regarding the coronavirus that his campaign was still going through the available choices. Back in May, Biden said that he would reveal who his running mate will be by August 1. When he was pressed if he would be able to meet his own deadline, the former vice president was hesitant to commit. He claimed that his staff was just getting started with the hard process of vetting for the possible choices for his running mate.

“I can’t guarantee you August 1, but it will be in early August before, several weeks before the convention, I believe,” Biden said, sounding more confused than usual. Biden made the headlines when he promised that he would pick a woman for his vice president, definitely a historic choice. But then he made a few people worried when he said that whoever is chosen must be ready to assume the office at a moment’s notice. While that is the main role of the vice president, Biden saying that is kind of worrying because there is speculation that he is undergoing cognitive decline right now and that he may be unfit for office. It is unclear why the Democrats are pushing for the candidacy of someone who is as problematic as the aging Biden is. There is speculation that they will be moving to remove him once he gets elected, and they could be planning on getting someone like Hillary Clinton into office.

There are several names that have been floated who might be the possible running mate choice. There is Kamala Harris, who, aside from being a woman, is also a person of color. Elizabeth Warren, another one of his former rivals, could be chosen to appeal to the Native American voters since she claims to be Cherokee. Then, of course, there is Stacey Abrams who ran for governor of Georgia and lost miserably. She has been promoting herself to be chosen as the VP candidate to a pathetic degree, but with all the pandering being done by the Democrats lately, she might just be picked by Biden.
