On Monday, the Democratic party accused President Donald Trump of “glorifying white supremacy” at his upcoming Independence Day rally at Mount Rushmore.

In a social media post, the party wrote, “Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again.” Rather than celebrate the four Great U.S. Presidents, they added that “He’s attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he’s holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore–a region once sacred to tribal communities.”

They have also attached a link to the article from The Guardian. The British media outlet included quotes from Nick Tilsen, an Oglala Lakota tribe member, and president of an activist group called “NDN Collective.” Tilsen claimed that Mount Rushmore stood as a monument of “white supremacy” and continues to symbolize systemic racism plaguing America. Tilsen also expressed his desire to see Mount. Rushmore tore down.

After all, such advocacy does not come as a surprise after Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists had toppled down and desecrated not just Confederate statues but as well as historical and even religious monuments. In fact, the move to destroy Mount. Rushmore only seemed a step up from the anarchy and chaos that had taken place across several cities.

Unfortunately, left-wing supporters were unable to recognize the monument’s significance, which bore the four great American presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and even abolitionist Abraham Lincoln. Due to their tone-deaf tweets, the party was forced to delete their social media post after a massive backlash.

Moreover, South Dakota, Gov. Kristi Noem, responded to the Democratic Party’s insensitive tweet. In a recent interview for “Fox and Friends,” Noem blasted the attempt as a “radical rewriting of history.” She believed that left-wing protesters are no longer fighting for equality, adding that “This is a national monument. The more we focus on the flaws of these men that are on our mountain, the less likely we are to recognize the virtues and the lessons we can learn from their lives.” Noem also encouraged her fellow South Dakotans to appreciate Mount Rushmore and what it represents.

The Governor also wrote a social media tweet warning any attempts to destroy and desecrate the monument.

Matt Whitlock, an NRSC Senior adviser, also blasted the idea.

While radio host Jason Rantz warned of the possible outcome that the country might face if Biden comes to power.

Finally, American writer, Ben Domenech described the Democrat’s ludicrous idea as “innovative.”
