The Washington Post tried to debunk the claim made by President Donald Trump that the most dangerous cities in America are all run by Democrats and they end up proving his point. The article published on the 25th of June says that President Trump has been forced to change his campaign tactic. The writer claims that the President can no longer run on how he made the economy great because the pandemic has wiped out the gains that he has made economically in the past few years. The writer says that the President is not focusing on law and order as a major campaign point.

The article points out how Trump has repeatedly accused the Democrats of being soft on crime and he has cited how cities that are run by Democrats are crime-infested places that are very dangerous.

“You hear about certain places like Chicago and you hear about what’s going on in Detroit and other — other cities, all Democrat run. Every one of them is Democrat run. Twenty out of 20. The 20 worst, the 20 most dangerous are Democrat run,” Trump said on Wednesday at the White House. The article did not dispute that. They can’t since the statistics do show that cities that are crime-infested are run by Democrats. What the article claims is that there is no reason why being Democrat-run should be correlated with high crime.

The writer claims that cities have always been linked with higher crime rates and that people in cities do tend to vote Democrat. Still, they have just proven Trump’s point, cities that are run by the Democratic party tend to have a high crime rate. Of the mayors of the 20 cities with the most violent crime rate, only one is not a Democrat. That would be the mayor of Springfield, Mo who is not even a Republican but an independent. They claim that there can be no connection while showing stats that prove the President’s point.

Cities like Chicago which have a long history of being run by Democrats is overrun by crime. The weekly counts of victims of shooting read like something that would come from a war-torn country rather than an American city. So far for this weekend, there have been 10 fatalities and 36 wounded in shooting incidents all over the city.

That’s just one Democrat-run city.
