On Thursday, Hollywood left cheered and celebrated when the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to uphold the illegal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty program— a program put into action during the Obama administration.

The DACA amnesty program protected an estimated 700,000 people who illegally entered the United States with their parents as children from deportation. Back in 2017, President Donald Trump revoked the program, but the Supreme Court’s recent 5-4 ruling decision preserved the program. The ruling was written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan. They argued that the Trump administration didn’t have adequate reason to cancel the amnesty.

President Trump took to Twitter to express his disappointment regarding the SCOTUS’s decision, saying that he is asking for a legal solution on DACA, not a political one, one that is “consistent with the rule of law.” He added that the recent decisions of the Supreme Court, not only on DACA, tell us one thing: that we need new justices.

Then the president also tweeted that he will be releasing a new list of Conservative Supreme Court Justice nominees by September 1.

On the other hand, Hollywood left was quick to celebrate over the SCOTUS DACA ruling and expressed their support for the “dreamers” using their Twitter accounts.

Award-winning actress Viola Davis best-known for her role as Professor Annalise Keating in the ABC series How To Get Away With Murder tweeted, “Now THIS is America living up to its promise!! To all you dreamers, I celebrate with you today!”

Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis tweeted a photo of a “Dreamers” banner during a protest and thanked the SCOTUS.

Director Ava DuVernay tweeted a GIF that said, “I love this song!”

Comedian and staunch Trump critic Chelsea Handler said that she is “hopeful and optimistic” about the future.

Left-wing activist and actress Alyssa Milano, of course, joined in and posted a photo with the DACA dreamers and tweeted a hashtag #HomeIsHere.

Meanwhile, Seth MacFarlane pushed his leftist agenda to vote for Sleepy Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential elections, saying that if they vote for Biden, the Democrats will have a say on who gets to stay on the Supreme Court.

Hollywood A-lister and Avengers star Mark Ruffalo claimed that DACA Americans “make the world a more beautiful and inspiring place.”

Then actress Mia Farrow wanted to go even further and grant the DACA children full US citizenship, saying, “Now let’s make it for life. #citizenship.”
