Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced on Thursday that she is officially withdrawing from consideration to become the vice-presidential candidate for the Democratic party. Klobuchar said that she believes it’s about time that a woman of color becomes the nominee. This comes as a surprise move since Klobuchar has long been considered to be one of the leading choices to be Biden’s running-mate since he made the announcement that he will be choosing a female to be his vice president.

Klobuchar gave an interview at MSNBC, where she said that “after what I’ve seen in my state, what I’ve seen across the country, this is a historic moment. And America must seize on this moment.” She mentioned that she had called Biden and told him that it is time to put a woman of color on the ticket. Klobuchar is referring to the widespread protests which degenerated into rioting and looting that has been taking place all over the country in reaction to the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis. So, they want to pander to the leftists and the BLM activists by having the Democratic party have a vice-presidential candidate who is a woman of color.

There speculation however, that the reason why she is withdrawing from the official consideration to become VP is that her track-record has been called into question in connection with the George Floyd case. It seems that when she was serving as the leading prosecutor of Hennepin County, she refused to charge several police officers for the fatal shooting of one Wayne Reyes. Among the police officers that she refused to charge is Derek Chauvin, the same officer who killed Floyd.

Klobuchar has defended her record and her decision not to charge the officers. It appeared that Reyes’s shooting was justified, but that would not be enough for the leftists who will not forgive for siding with the police.

Klobuchar’s stepping down is paving the way for the shamelessly self-promoting Stacey Abrams, who will say or do anything just to be chosen as Biden’s running mate. But Abrams would be more of a liability than an asset to the Biden campaign. She is an even more polarizing figure than Biden, and her only accomplishment so far is to have lost in the Georgia gubernatorial race. She is trying to drum up interest regarding her name again, now that she sees another chance at being the nominee.
