The Seattle Department of Transportation installed concrete barriers around the infamous CHAZ (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone) on Tuesday morning. The barriers could prevent vehicles from entering the zone and could restrict people from entering. It can be taken as a sign that the city government is not planning on taking action to remove the protestors from the area that they have occupied. The installers have allowed for emergency lanes where emergency vehicles of responders can pass through.

The Chief of Police of Seattle, Carmen Best, made a statement on Monday stating that there were no areas in the city in which the police cannot go to, but the barricades surrounding the zone are making it difficult for first-responders to gain access to specific areas within the occupied zone. “When it comes to that particular area, we have if we get a call, there’s an important emergency, a 911 call, we’re going in. We’re going to do our job. I have a list of reports we’ve taken already. But we also have to be considerate of the delicate situation that we have there,” Best said.

The President said on Monday that he has already discussed with Attorney general William Barr what actions need to be taken against the rioters who have occupied several blocks in Seattle and declared it a free zone. The President threatened that if the governor of the state of Washington and the Seattle mayor do not do anything that he will take action. There is a growing call for the President to take decisive action against what others consider to be an act of rebellion against the United States of America.

“You have a governor who doesn’t do a damned thing about it, and you have a mayor that doesn’t know she is alive. If they don’t do the job, I will do the job,” President Trump said.

The statement from the President has triggered a response from the mayor of Seattle, who happens to be a Democrat. She said that the President would do anything not to listen to the millions asking for change and accuses him of lying. In other words, the mayor has no plans to take action against the protestors. In fact, she even compared the takeover to a block-party. She has no plans on moving against the people who are holding hostage the business owners and home-owners who live inside the CHAZ.
