White House advisor, Ivanka Trump blasted Wichita State University and its “cancel culture” after the institution had deliberately decided to drop her as their commencement speaker.

On Saturday, the First Daughter, gave out strong words against the University after they have disinvited her to give a “virtual commencement address.” The faculty changed its mind after President Donald Trump warned protesters in Washington D.C. that they might face a military force. Ivanka condemned the University’s decision and aired her disappointment on social media.

Ivanka wrote: “Our nation’s campuses should be bastions of free speech.” The First Daughter also called out the University’s “Cancel culture and viewpoint discrimination are antithetical to academia.” Ivanka added, “Listening to one another is important now more than ever!”

Finally, she gave out well-wishes to the graduating class and regarded them as “war-graduates” as the country continued to deal with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. “Dream big and aspire to make the world a better place!” Ivanka concluded.

Initially, WSU invited Ivanka to be their commencement speaker. However, student and faculty members objected to the First Daughter’s invitation and drafted a petition to stop the White House advisor from speaking. Led by Professor Jennifer Ray, the academy argued that Ivanka and the rest of the Trump administration represented what was “worst in the country.” The letter read: “Ivanka Trump, obviously, represents her father’s administration as one of his closest advisors.” The professor also claimed how the current administration had signified the “worst of our country” with their response to the so-called “peaceful protesting.”

However, in their official statement, WSU failed to specifically cite as to why they have dropped Ivanka’s invitation. The school administration only stated that they have “refocused” on the “students voices” and announced that a practical nursing graduate, Rebecca Zinabu, will replace Ivanka as a commencement speaker.

While Ivanka had gained notoriety for being the President’s daughter, she had proven herself to be more than that. To date, Ivanka is one of the youngest senior advisors in White House history. She has also led a successful clothing brand and had to give up her corporation in 2018 after it had become too difficult for her to manage both her political career and her multi-million business.
