Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey was kicked out of a protest in his city that he tried to join because he will not commit to abolishing the police force in the city, as it was being demanded by the Antifa thugs who are doing the rioting there. A video is being shared online showing the mayor trying to join a group of protesters as he told them that he believed that the police must undergo structural reforms. He says that there is systematic racism that has to be revamped.

But one of the protesters was not going to let him go off the hook so easily. “We have a yes or no question for you. Yes or no, will you commit to defunding the Minneapolis Police Department?” The protester asked the Mayor.

“We don’t want any more police, is that clear? We don’t want people with guns in our communities, shooting us down. Do you have an answer? It is a yes or a no,” the protester added.

Frey then responded that he does not support completely abolishing the police department in his city. Because of that answer he was told to get out of the protest and the crowd started to boo him. There are videos circulating of Frey leaving the gathering amid chants and booing. It was a pathetic performance for the Democrat mayor who tried pandering to the far-left crowd only to be rejected by them because he wasn’t crazy enough to agree to their idea of completely defunding and abolishing the police force because they don’t like it.

While the death of George Floyd was tragic and the persons responsible should be punished, that does not mean that cities should do away with police. The only ones who will benefit from abolishing the police department of cities will be the criminals and it will be the law-abiding citizens who will suffer.

Frey has been heavily criticized for his response to the protests and the rioting. In the meantime, the Minneapolis City Council has vowed that they will be dismantling their police department. They promised that they will replace it with something transformative. They want the law enforcers to be completely disarmed and will not engage in physical contact with criminals. If the plan of the council pushes through, then the Minneapolis police force would be turned into a force of rent-a-cops.
