After President Donald Trump’s iconic “church walk” to St John’s Episcopal Church, Democrats went on to target the President by questioning his faith.

In a Twitter tirade, Politico reporter Gabby Orr expressed her doubts against Trump’’s religious beliefs. The White House correspondent accused Trump of using the Bible as a “prop” and for failing to read specific passages.

Orr’s tweets came as a response after the President’s campaign Coalitions Director Hannah Castillo praised Trump for his decision to walk from Lafayette Square to St John’s Church, which had been set on fire by protesters. The iconic church bore a historical significance, as it had been a place of worship for previous American presidents.

In a series of offensive tweets, Orr asked Trump “Then why didn’t he pray?” She also questioned why the President did not offer “words of comfort” when he stood outside of the church. Of all the passages in the bible, she asked why Trump did not read out Romans 12:14-21. She went on to suggest that even the passage from the two corinthians would also be “sufficient.”

The reporter received a massive backlash against her tweet. However, Orr slapped back saying that “If he prayed and I was standing there in my capacity as a reporter, I would have bowed my head and prayed with him.”

Trump’s adviser and GOP strategist Arthur Schwartz also criticized Orr’s nasty tweets. Schwartz responded that Orr was a “garbage reporter” from an already trashy publication. He condemned the White House correspondent by saying, “You don’t regulate anyone’s relationship with God.” He added that her statements were “disgusting and offensive.”

In addition, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo also brought up issues regarding the bible at Wednesday’s press briefing. In an attempt to show off, the NY Governor went on to read a few passages from the holy book. He boasted that while Trump only held up the bible, they actually read it in New York.

Unfortunately, Cuomo also used the book as a “prop,” as he opened it and instead of reading from the text itself, he proceeded to read it from the screen. However, GOP supporters praised the President for his show of solidarity during his church walk. They have also denied the allegations that protesters were tear-gassed to make way for Trump, according to the USPP statement.

The USPP officers claimed that protesters began throwing “projectiles” near Lafayette Park including bricks, frozen water bottles, and even “caustic liquids.” The officers also raised concerns over the President’s safety as one of the demonstrators climbed into a historic building at the end of the park that had already been burned down during the riots.
