Martin Tolchin, the founder of news outlet Politico and a former New York Times correspondent in Washington, DC, published a letter to the editor of the Times, saying that he wants a “coronation” for Joe Biden despite sexual assault allegations from Tara Reade.

Tolchin’s letter came as a response to a recent Times editorial that called for the Democratic National Committee to investigate former Biden staffer, Tara Reade’s sexual harassment claims against the former vice president. He said that he did not want Reade’s allegations investigated, nor does he want Biden to go on any kind of investigation for other things because all he wants is to see President Donald Trump get defeated in November.

In his letter, Tolchin emphasized that rather than wanting an investigation, he wants “a coronation of Joe Biden.” He also claimed that although Biden would not make a great president, he would “absolutely” be better than Trump. He followed it up by saying, “I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.”

His reason for not wanting Biden to go under investigation over Reade’s sexual assault claims is the possibility of uncovering “damaging information,” which may lead to Biden losing the presidential nomination to Bernie Sanders or “someone else with a minimal chance of defeating” President Trump.

Since Reade made her story public, left-wing media has been keen on avoiding and dodging any news related to her. In fact, despite having been interviewed dozens of times by left-wing news anchors, not once was Biden asked about the issues concerning Tara Reade.

Critics said that Tolchin’s attitude towards the Biden issue just served as a confirmation of public suspicion that left-wing media are just truly partisan and uninterested in knowing the truth.

White House correspondent for the Daily Mail David Martosko tweeted about Tolchin’s letter and said that it was a reason why “less than 1/3 of Americans trust the news media.”
