On Sunday, Michigan Democrat Party chairwoman, Lavora Barnes, bashed Trump supporters, saying that “If you support Donald Trump, you are a racist.” In a blog post on the state’s Democratic website, the chairwoman penned down a statement entitled “The Time for Silence is Over.” Barnes explained that the current campaign against the President was not working. “If you support Donald Trump, you are a racist. Here is where it gets tricky and uncomfortable,” she wrote. She continued that, “Donald Trump is a racist, and if being a racist is not a dealbreaker for you, you are the reason Black people are being murdered for being Black.”

She also went on to challenge Democrats to be involved in what she called “uncomfortable conversation.” She also encouraged people to break friendships over people who do not share the same ideals that they do. Barnes also claimed that the nation had gone beyond “politics” and proposed a new justice system.

Barnes believed that in order to stop the oppression among black communities, they have to make their “oppressors accountable.” She also demanded a “meaningful” criminal justice reform. The Democratic chairwoman ordered law enforcement to “actually do their jobs’ and prosecute those who are involved in spreading “hate crimes.” Finally, Barnes demanded that people in the criminal justice system should work as an “independent body” which no one can “sway over.”

The Democratic chair had shared her support for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whom she believed can bring a brighter future for the state of Michigan.

Unfortunately, in the past few weeks, the Michigan Governor had been involved in several controversies, especially on imposing her dictator-like orders. Just last month, The Governor received a massive backlash for pressing charges against a 78-year old barber, Karl Manke for imposing a threat in the community.

However, it seemed that the dictator’s authoritarian regime gave a soft spot for violent protesters who had gone into the streets without any masks, and went on to attack the governor’s building in Lansing. The governor refused to condemn the protesters, stating that there were still a lot of “peaceful demonstrators.”

Even Whitmer’s fellow Democrats such as Rep. Ilhan Omar declared that peaceful protests should not be “criminalized,” despite the fact that 75 cities across America watched as store glass shattered and buildings burned down. The controversial lawmaker even had the audacity to say that the protest was “major progress.”

In addition, Whitmer and Omar’s fellow Democrat, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf claimed that protesters have gathered “peacefully,” despite the weekend’s violent protests. Some of the police officers had injuries, while others suffered a chemical burn.

In a press conference, George Floyd’s attorney Benjamin Crump told the public that while the family understood the anger and resentment against the police force, they have condemned the use of violence. Instead, the family asked protesters to take a deep breath for justice and peace in the community.
