African American Comedian Leslie Jones: “Burn Down This F*cking Constitution!”
Comedian Leslie Jones, a former Saturday Night Live star, encouraged demonstrators who have protested over the death of George Floyd to “burn down this f*cking Constitution,” instead of burning down buildings.
In a social media post, Jones claimed that people should be more focused on voting. “I love that you guys are protesting and see how quickly you did it. But I’m gonna tell you, to get the fuck what you really want, we’re going to have to change the fucking system,” the comedian lamented. She continued that the only way to create systemic changes is by voting.
Jones also referred to her involvement in the 1992 Los Angeles riots, a series of civil unrest over the brutal death of Rodney King. Just like the 2020 nationwide riots, the disturbance also included violence, looting, and destructive protests. “You want to burn down buildings? Burn down this fucking Constitution,” Jones challenged social media users.

The former SNL star also reaffirmed her belief that the ballot box is much stronger than the protest, “is it going to change anything?” the comedian asked. In addition, she also went on to remind people of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, and that mass only serves as a breeding ground to spread the infection. Jones claimed that at the end of the day, safety remains a major priority.
To prove her point, Jones threw profanities and went on to stress out that the only way they can make changes is through voting.

In fact, across the country, violence continue to rage as police officers are being shot. In a press briefing, Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo confirmed that a police officer was shot around 11 p.m. on Monday night and is currently under the critical condition at University Medical Center. The Sheriff explained that the officers had to deal with a large group of protesters near the Circus hotel-casino. In addition, four officers were also shot at St. Louis after they were hit by gunfire during a George Floyd protest. Initially, the demonstrations started peacefully. However, overnight, the protests turned into a violent riot as they smashed store windows and looted stores. On Tuesday morning, the police department confirmed that the officers were taken to a nearby hospital due to their injuries.
Fortunately, while rioters continued to wreak havoc among the nation’s cities, some goodwill citizens have gathered to clean up the mess from the previous violent protests.
On Sunday, locals ranging from Seattle, Washington, Las Vegas, Nevada, Sacramento California, Raleigh, North Carolina, San Antonio, Texas to clean up the debris, and erase the graffiti.
