Former NFL running back and controversial figure O.J. Simpson offered his thoughts regarding the killing of George Floyd on Twitter. The former football player shared his thoughts on video regarding the incident of police brutality and the ongoing protests in Minneapolis.

“But I think what you’re seeing, the reaction, is the fear that nothing’s going to be done about it. That’s been the case in the past. That’s what led to the riots in L.A. after the Rodney King case, was the verdict didn’t seem valid,” Simpson said in the video. He then asks the authorities what they will be doing. The police officer who placed his knee on George Floyd, eventually resulting in his death had multiple complaints while only getting only two disciplinary actions.

Simpson also mentioned the CNN news crew that was arrested while covering the protests in Minneapolis. The protests soon turned into full-scale riots in the city complete with looting.

Simpson is not unfamiliar with murder cases. He was involved in one of the biggest controversies of the 1990s when he was tried for the murder of his wife and her friend. He was involved in one of the most famous police pursuits in history. An estimated 95 million people watched live on television as he tried to evade capture. He was eventually acquitted of the murder but was found to be responsible for the deaths via a civil trial later on. He was also involved in a Las Vegas robbery later in life. So, altogether, Simpson has a great deal of experience when it comes to dealing with law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

Other leftist celebrities from Hollywood have taken advantage of the opportunity to voice out their opinions regarding Floyd’s death and grandstand. The actor Jamie Foxx has joined the protesters in Minneapolis to make a name for himself while “singers” Madonna and Billie Eilish have joined the bandwagon too.
