Hollywood celebrities have spoken out against the ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd. The 46-year-old’s death sparked a violent outrage that had resulted in the city’s police station being set ablaze.

Aging pop star Madonna spoke out against Floyd’s tragic death. Madonna threw profanities in a social media post saying “F**CK THE POLICE” and rallying against gun control. The performer wrote: “Watching this Cop suffocate George Floyd with his knee on his neck, handcuffed and helpless, crying for his life with his face in the street is the most sickening, heartbreaking thing I’ve seen in a long time.” She added that it is time to end the violence and used it as an opportunity to lobby for gun control, “Until we can overcome Racism in America—no one should be allowed to carry a gun. Most of all cops.”

Madonna continued by extending her sympathy to Floyd’s family and hoped that the violence would end one day. She concluded, “Until then—F*** The Police!” and adding in a hashtag “#guncontrol.”

Previously, Madonna received a massive social media backlash after her tone-deaf “fish song” and reading a post on how the coronavirus pandemic had become a “great equalizer” as she soaked in her tub filled with rose petals.

Other celebrities have also expressed their opinion regarding the Minneapolis incident. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick posted a message in support of the violent riots. Kaepernick believed that anarchy should be the way to go, as “civility” will only result in “death.” The multi-million dollar racial activist suggested that “the only logical reaction” is to “revolt.”

“The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance,” the former NFL player wrote. He also encouraged people to join the riots, “We have the right to fight back!”

Kaepernick made headlines after he refused to stand during the national anthem during a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. The athlete explained that it was a deliberate decision as a form of protest against racial oppression. The athlete had once filed a grievance suit against the NFL but had retracted after they had both reached a settlement.

On the other hand, Rapper Cardi B defended the looters who have wheeled off carts of groceries and appliances from a local Target store. She claimed that although she does not like violence, the rapper felt that it was time to end peaceful marches, and trending hashtags. “The people are left with NO CHOICE,” she wrote as a response to a social media video of looters breaking into the store.

However, as protesters continued to wreak fear and havoc into the community, Minneapolis Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins lobbied for calm and peace amidst the chaotic protests. In a Thursday press conference, Jenkins claimed that she understood the city’s frustration. On the contrary, the state’s Council VP believed that looting stores and burning down police stations are only hurting the community that they are trying to protect.
