#MeToo Founder Rose McGowan Denounces Democratic Party, Says It's A “Cult”
Staunch feminist and one of the founders of the #MeToo movement Rose McGowan had recently denounced her long support over the Democratic Party. In a series of tweets, McGowan called the party a “cult” and called them out for the double standard they had for women.
In her social media post, McGowan began by saying that she used to be a “proud Democrat.” She continued that she would have died for the country, and for what the party had stood for. The actress went on to share how she would engage in “verbal altercations” against men who were opposed to her beliefs. “All because I thought democracy meant was I had a right to choose those who lined up with my value system. But what if there’s none?” she wrote.
McGowan, then called out the biased media, for choosing sides. In fact, the actress claimed that the media, such as the New York Times and the Washington Post, had made a point to make the party appear as the “good guys.” While the Republicans were “painted as the bad guys.” However, all of that has changed, as she felt a “sense of loss.” She added that “I’ve always seen them more as a cult, but now I realize so are the Democrats and the media. Macro and micro.”
The actress claimed that what has happened is bigger than a “cover-up.”

McGowan was a rape survivor and had since been noted as a whistleblower to expose famed Hollywood producer and Dem supporter Harvey Weinstein. Recently, McGowan claimed that the Washington Post had sunk to a “new low in journalism,” after allegedly discrediting Tara Reade.
She also pointed out the glaring hypocrisy of the media and the Democratic party, citing their dismissal and cover-up on Reade’s allegation. The event had prompted the actress to suggest that presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden should drop out of the race.
However, despite the famed line of “believing all women,” some supporters of the #MeToo movement would only do so, as long as it aligns with their political beliefs. One of its strong supporters, actress Alyssa Milano, continued to air out her support for Biden, and cited him as the “best choice for that future.” She also defended the former vice-president by simply dismissing the allegations and saying that Biden is not capable of doing such things.
