Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has an update regarding his search for his running mate in the upcoming presidential elections.

The former vice president told KDKA-TV of Pittsburgh that the Obamas are his great friends, describing Michelle Obama as “brilliant, knows her way around, and a really fine woman.” However, Biden says that he is not sure if Obama herself would agree.

Obama has expressed her disinterest in running for office. “As an older leader, I think an important part of leadership is stepping out of the way and making room,” she said.

The former first lady further shut down claims of her running for the vice presidency in her memoir entitled, “Becoming,” saying, “I’ll say it here directly: I have no intention of running for office, ever.”

However, news and hopes of her agreeing to partner with gaffe-filled Biden rose again after the announcement of the release of her exclusive documentary on popular streaming site Netflix.

Despite Obama’s refusal to run for office, there is no shortage of candidates for Biden’s running mate. In December, Biden mentioned he would consider choosing former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), and last week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)

Biden’s potential running mates, including failed presidential hopeful Sen. Amy Klobuchar, are reported to be participating in Everytown and Moms Demand Action’s gun control series beginning in late April until next month.

Although the former vice president has pledged to pick a female running mate in the upcoming presidential elections in November, he did not commit to selecting a woman of color. He said, however, that he would commit to seating a woman of color in the Supreme Court. “I’ll commit to that be a woman because it is very important that my administration look like the public, look like the nation,” Biden said.
