Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) urges Americans to boycott going back to work, saying that when states and businesses reopen, they should refuse going back.

On Wednesday, in the first episode of “Seat at the Table” on Vice, the Democrat said that Americans should not go back to work despite the need to provide food on the table after being hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ocasio-Cortez claimed that the idea of “reopening society” means going back to work only exists in America because when President Donald Trump tweets about liberation, he only means go back to work. She continued, saying that when talks about reopening come up, Americans should just say “no.” “We’re not going back to working 70 hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”

The staunch Democrat has been making controversial and careless statements throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Last week, AOC said that she noticed a shift in the COVID-19 narrative when the impact on Black-Americans became clear. And when news broke that oil prices reached historic lows, she rejoiced. In a now-deleted tweet, AOC wrote, “You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low-interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. ✳︎cough✳︎”

The lawmaker deleted it after realizing that all-time low oil prices would lead to more unemployment for Americans. As reported by The Patriot Hill, according to GIM economist Nathan Sheets, the sudden market plunge might cost the industry sector an additional 50,000-75,000 jobs.

But vocal Trump critic Cortez doesn’t seem to know or really care about American workers. The fact that she’s urging them to boycott going back to work just shows how uninformed she is with the current situation of workers during this pandemic.

In a report by Daily Wire, according to a survey conducted by Gallup, a quarter of American workers fear that they will be laid off in the next year, which was the highest measure since 1975.
