House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supports Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden against the allegations of sexual assault by former assistant Tara Reade. During an interview on MSNBC, Pelosi was asked by host Ari Melber, if she was satisfied by the explanation given by Joe Biden regarding the accusation since he is the Democratic presidential nominee.

Pelosi tried to qualify herself first by saying that she is very involved in the issue and that she wants to give women the opportunity to be heard but then ends her statement by saying that yes, she believes Biden’s explanation and she was satisfied with it. She did not offer any explanation as to how she is involved in the issue or if she has conducted an investigation into the matter. It seems that she is just taking Biden’s explanation at face value.

The Democratic party has been trying to downplay the accusations but it seems that issue is not going away anytime soon and is just gaining more traction. Originally, Reade said that Biden touched her shoulders and made her feel uncomfortable, something that is difficult to deny given the numerous videos of Biden holding and touching women and children and making them visibly comfortable. Now Reade is accusing the former vice president of something more serious. One of Reade’s friends has confirmed that she knew the story way back in 2008. The assault allegedly took place in the early 1990s when Reade was working for Biden as a staff assistant.

Biden’s campaign has categorically denied the assault, saying that he has fought for women’s rights and that while he supports women’s rights to be heard, the accusation against him is clearly not true. They did not offer any explanation as to why they believe the allegations are untrue.

Democratic party leaders are now faced with the question of how to respond to allegations of sexual misconduct by Biden. They have been very adamant about believing all women who accuse men of sexual misconduct but it seems they only do that when the accused is a conservative man. The best example would be when Brett Kavanaugh was appointed to the Supreme Court and a mentally ill woman, whose claims have been proven to be false, accused him of sexual assault, which supposedly happened decades earlier. It would be recalled that Pelosi branded Kavanaugh as “hysterical” when the latter tried to defend himself against the ridiculous claims of the now-discredited accuser.
