Brielle Biermann, the star of the reality TV show Real Housewives of Atlanta, is facing backlash after suggesting that President Donald Trump has feelings too and should not be bullied. She made the statement through a tweet. Bermann prefaced it by saying it’s not a political statement. She said that Trump is a person, and he’s running the country. She asked her followers if they think anyone would want to do the best they can when they’re constantly belittled and bullied.

It didn’t take long for her followers to attack her. One of her followers asked her if she followed Trump on Twitter because all he does is belittle and bully others. Others slammed her for siding with the president.

Instead of backing down and deleting her statements, Biermann doubled-down instead. She said that her statement did not reflect her political views. For her, it does not matter whether it was Obama, who is the sitting president or Trump, no one should be subjected to bullying. She says that the president does not deserve the constant hate he receives.

Biermann’s tweets are brave, considering that any celebrity who expresses his or her support for the president gets canceled quickly. The Hollywood left is not tolerant of anyone among their ranks expressing an opinion that is different from what is expected of them.

Other actors and celebrities who expressed support for the president have been canceled and have seen their careers wrecked. One of the most prominent examples is Roseanne Barr. The comedian is a vocal supporter of the president. Last year, after she made several tweets that were interpreted to be racist, her show got canceled by ABC. Although she apologized later on and gave a credible explanation for her tweets (she claims that she’s unaware that the target of posts is a woman of color), they still took away her show. The left has a double standard when it comes to making offensive statements. Hopefully, Biermann’s show will not get canceled because of her tweets.
