Staunch left-wing supporter, actress Alyssa Milano believed that President Donald Trump would become the first president to be impeached for the second time for promoting anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine.

On Tuesday, the actress wrote: “Trump can make history as the first President to be impeached twice.” She added that if the president’s action, which put countless American lives in danger by promoting the medication for “personal gain,” is not an impeachable offense, Milano said that “we should just throw in the towel.”

Milano’s tweets came as a response to a post by a self-proclaimed patient advocate, Peter Morley. In his post, Morley claimed that Trump had a small financial gain from drug company Sanofi, which then manufactures the drug, hydroxychloroquine. The patient advocate then accused Trump of putting self-interest ahead of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. “Once again, Trump puts profits OVER patients,” Morley wrote.

Social media pundits were quick to chime in with Milano’s accusation. One user wrote that Trump’s actions were not only impeachable but can be considered as a “crime against humanity.”

Another wrote that he had long suspected Trump of having a personal interest behind his support for the hydroxychloroquine.

While another social media pundit agreed.

One suggested that this will hopefully push the president out of the White House.

Then, another user claimed that Trump had strong ties with Novartis, another hydroxychloroquine manufacturer.

The tweets came following a New York Times article, which discussed the effectiveness of the drug to cure COVID-19 patients. The NYT article mentioned that Trump might be right, as doctors and studies agreed with its effectiveness. However, the report also hinted that the president might have ulterior motives in promoting the drug.

While Trump had a small trust in Dodge & Cox, which has Sanofi as one of its largest holdings, according to MarketWatch, the president’s profit might be as much as a mere $99. The article cites that “Trump’s 2019 financial-disclosure form lists stakes in Family Trusts 1, 2 and 3 valued at between $1,001 and $15,000. So if Trump has the maximum $15,000 in each of the trusts, he holds a stake in Sanofi that’s worth $1,485—and, at the minimum, just $99.”

The actress, who was notably one of the leading figures in the #MeTooMovement, received a massive backlash after she backtracked on her belief that all sexual allegations were true. Back in 2018, when Christine Blasey alleged Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh for sexual misconduct, the actress gave her all-out support, stating that “we should believe every woman.”

However, things suddenly changed when Tara Reade, a former Biden staff, alleged that the former vice-president digitally penetrated her without consent. Milano, who had endorsed Biden, claimed that she never expected that the anti-sexual assault movement would also destroy “innocent men” like Biden.
