Vocal Trump critic, Rob Reiner accused President Donald Trump of causing the increasing numbers of COVID-19 related deaths in the state of New York.

The famed director who often used his social media platform to air his grievances against the president wrote to his 924,000 followers, “There’s no other way to put this: Donald Trump is causing people in NY to DIE.” Reiner’s response came after the state was heavily hit by the deadly Chinese virus. According to the state’s recent reports, New York has a total of 33,066 confirmed COVID-19 patients and 310 related deaths. With 20,011 of these cases coming from New York City alone.

Social media pundits also echoed Reiner’s sentiments and were quick to slam the administration’s response. One Twitter user described the president as a “murderer.”

While journalist Jason Baum shared a previous post in which he described Trump’s presidency as the scariest horror movie there is.

Another left-wing supporter claimed that Trump’s trillion-dollar response would only serve as a band-aid solution to thousands of Americans who have been affected by the epidemic.

This is not the first time that the director slammed Trump’s coronavirus efforts. In another Twitter post, Reiner claimed that for the country to heal from the pandemic, Trump must be removed from office and let competent experts take over.

However, the public response remains a stark contrast to Hollywood’s vicious accusations. Based on the most recent Gallup survey, 60% of Americans approve Trump’s coronavirus response. The Harris Poll echoed a similar sentiment. Based on the poll conducted between March 14-15, 2020, and the second one on March 17-18, 2020, the numbers cites that Trump’s approval rating jumped to a whopping four points from 49 percent to 53 percent in less than a week.

Even New York Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed that he was working closely with the Trump administration. In his official statement, Cuomo says that Trump is “ready, willing, and able to help.” The governor also stated that the presidential staff had been working around the clock to identify coronavirus hotspots in the country.

In his previous remarks, the Democratic governor also agrees with President Trump’s decision to jumpstart the country’s economy as soon as possible, “Let the younger people go back to work, let the recovered people go back to work,” Cuomo remarked.
