While President Donald Trump had asked Americans to put aside partisanship and politics amid the coronavirus pandemic, controversial lawmaker Rep. Ilhan Omar took the time to slam the presidential daughter, Ivanka, for her wholesome and family-friendly social media post.

Omar shared Ivanka’s post on Twitter, using it as a chance to push for her own political agenda with the U.S.-Mexico border. The lawmaker wrote, “Thinking of all the families separated forcefully by your father’s policies today.” She continued, “Share your ideas on how you plan to unite them.”

In the said post, Ivanka suggested fun family activities that parents could do to lift their kids’ spirits during the outbreak. She even suggested that it would be best for families to use the time to bond by recreating a “living room camp out” where they could all make salads, sandwiches, and even s’ mores. The 38-year-old then used the hashtag “#TogetherApart.”

The picture also featured Ivanka and her three children with husband, Jared Kushner, having quality time in their living room.

In another post, Ivanka recognized the seriousness of the situation but still encouraged communities to come together and create a more positive place for children. “It won’t mitigate the fear and pain; it may foster some joy. Let’s come together as a community,” Ivanka posted.

However, there is just one little problem. Omar herself does not really have a good record when it comes to family values. Early this year, the lawmaker was subjected to a federal investigation, as she was accused of marrying her own brother in hopes of obtaining a green card visa.

Then, there was also controversy that Omar and her political consultant Tim Mynett were having an affair. Reports broke out that her then-husband, Ahmed Hirsi, caught the two loungings at Omar’s D.C apartment in their pajamas. Hirsi came in to visit from Minnesota, where he was based with their two children.

The reports also claimed that Omar paid thousands of dollars to the Hirsi family to stay silent about the scandal. Meanwhile, her lover Mynett also has his fair share of controversy. In a court-ordered document, Mynett’s wife, Dr. Beth, claimed her husband Tim, admitted that he and Omar were having an affair, and had even professed his deep love for her. The Mynetts had then officially separated in April 2019.

As if the story of the affair was not enough, just this month, Omar officially tied the knot with her lover and political consultant. While she did not directly mention Mynett, Omar wrote an affectionate social media post, “From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed.”
