Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign received a huge boost today as he was endorsed by his former rivals for the Democratic nomination. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and former South Bend, Ind. mayor Pete Buttigieg endorsed him today. This comes after Biden was also endorsed by former Texas congressman and also-ran Beto “Skateboard” O’Rourke.

The endorsements are seen by many as a consolidation of the moderates within the Democratic party amid fears that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will win the nomination. Sanders, who is one of the most prominent democratic socialists in the country, is steadily gaining momentum towards getting support from the most number of delegates.

A Sanders nomination is seen by many as disastrous for the Democratic Party. Many party insiders consider Sanders to be too far-left to gain any support from moderate voters.

The fear that Sanders is going to push away many Democratic voters into not voting or even supporting Trump was stoked even further when he appeared on the “60 Minutes” program on CBS and he refused to condemn the Castro regime, even offering a half-praise for Castro’s Cuba because of the way that they eradicated illiteracy in the country. Sanders’s statement became very controversial and drew widespread condemnation from families of Cuban immigrants.

While Biden got the support of his former rivals within the party, it is still not sure if he would become the nominee. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) are still competing and then there is former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg, who seems to be determined to remind everyone that he is a billionaire and has reportedly spent $500 million playing catch-up with the other candidates, even using questionable digital ads and endorsements.

All of them are set to compete in the Super Tuesday contests, the date when the greatest number of states will hold their primaries, which is expected to show who will be the top two candidates for the Democratic nomination.

Buttigieg announced that he was ending his bid for the Democratic nomination and the Presidency on Sunday. The following day, he announced his support for Biden. “I am looking for a leader, I am looking for a president who will draw out what is best in each of us, and I’m encouraging everybody who was part of my campaign to join me because we have found that leader in vice president, soon-to-president, Joe Biden,” Buttigieg said.

The Sanders campaign is now zeroing in on Biden. The democratic socialist invited the supporters of quitters Buttigieg and Klobuchar to join his campaign. “To all of Amy and Pete’s millions of supporters, the door is open, come on in,” Sanders told them.

Bernie then launched an attack on Biden, claiming that he is “wrong on the issues.” The attacks didn’t end there. Bernie slammed Biden for getting contributions from wealthy contributors. Sanders also claimed that Biden would not be able to handle Trump. Considering that the former VP has been making one gaffe after another, there might be some truth in the claim.
