As the election season comes closer, Democrats are fighting and bickering over their fellow party members in their efforts to unseat far-left politicians who seem to threaten their long-standing traditions.

In a New York Post Editorial, the media outlet predicted that Democrats are planning to unseat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The firebrand congresswoman who had become famous for her unapologetic stand might lose her House Seat over her major decision to overhaul the PAC.

The editorial claimed that some Democrats are plotting to push AOC out of the House Seat, as she continued “refusing to pay dues to her caucus” fundraising arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “ Instead, AOC veered away from “established Democrats” to launch her own political action committee and opting for lesser-known candidates who “who refuse to bow to establishment pressure.”

In her tweet, AOC wrote: “It’s time to elect a progressive majority in Congress accountable to strong, grassroots movements that push support for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, & more.”

In an interview with the New York Times, AOC claimed, “My ambition right now is to be a little less lonely in Congress,” and chose the slate because “One of our primary goals is to reward political courage in Congress and also to help elect a progressive majority in the House of Representatives. There’s kind of a dual nature to this: One is opening the door to newcomers, and the other is to reward members of Congress that are exhibiting very large amounts of political courage.” The list of PAC endorsements included four House candidates which aim to challenge Democratic incumbents: Marie Newman for Illinois’ 5th district, Samelys Lopez for New York’s 15th district, Jessica Cisneros for Texas’ 28th district, and Teresa Fernandez for New Mexico’s third district.

As the New York Post Editorial stated, “Don’t be surprised when the established Democrats who’ll control redistricting after the 2020 Census do their best to eliminate her seat.”

NPR reported that AOC’s mission statement was to, “reward challengers and incumbents who display political courage—people who refuse to bow to establishment pressure, who advocate ferociously for working-class families, and who have lived the same struggles as the people they seek to represent.” While AOC’s vision might seem ‘revolutionary,” a lot of people have not been so happy with the changes. In a report from the Hill, an insider told the media outlet claimed that “She’s pissing off a lot of people and has probably made a lot of enemies.”

Just like Sanders, AOC’s far-left views had alienated loyal Democratic supporters. As Noel Ashman, one of the city’s best network promoters claimed, “Lifelong Democrats are really concerned that the party has moved so far to the left, they’re never going to win an election,” says Ashman.

“I consider myself politically independent, fiscally very conservative, socially very liberal. But there’s a big difference between liberal and socialist. Socialism is one of the biggest dangers we could face,” Ashman said.
