Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign rally in Nevada last Sunday was briefly interrupted by topless protesters advocating for animal rights. However, this is not the first time that Sanders had a long history of being confronted by topless protests.

The event seemed to start off normal, with Mayor Bill de Blasio introducing the Democratic nominee as the “next president of the United States.” After De Blasio’s brief introduction, Sanders and his wife came up on stage to the song “Power to the People.”

However, just as Sanders was about to speak, a woman jumped up from behind and tried to grab the microphone. This made Sanders visibly irritated as a forceful tug-and-pull-microphone scenario ensued.

The woman gave up and used the lectern’s microphone instead. Bernie, I’m your biggest supporter, and I’m here to ask you to stop pumping up the dairy industry and to stop pumping up animal agriculture. I believe in you…” in protest of the senator’s support for the dairy industry,” the women shouted.

However, she was unable to continue as Sanders’ security team pulled the microphone away. While Sanders moved to the edge, topless protesters paraded and took center stage as they poured colored liquids across their bare bosoms with containers marked with “milk.”

The women also had the words “Let Dairy Die” scribbled on their bare torsos.

Watch:

While Sanders looked annoyed, his wife Jane laughed at the sidelines.

After the women were pulled out of the scene, Sanders continued “This is Nevada. There’s always a little excitement—at no extra cost. Except we have a lot of water on the stage.”

The protest was a response to the senator’s support for the 2018 legislation which aims to provide emergency financial support for dairy farmers, as prices of milk started to fall.

While the Nevada rally was a spectacle on its own, it is not the first time that Sanders had his own share of topless protesters. In March 2016, a topless protester showed up at the senator’s Arizona rally.

The woman identified as Anni Ma failed to enter Trump’s rally, and instead of giving up, Ma barged into Sanders’ campaign.

While Sanders was busy giving his speech, Ma climbed on top of a man’s shoulder and took off her shirt. The words “Stop Fascism” and “Hate Speech is Not Free Speech” were scribbled on her body.
