Greta™ Plans to Trademark Her Name, ‘Fridays For Future’ Because People Keep Using It Without Permission. How Dare You!

Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg announced on Instagram she is planning on trademarking her name, and the phrases, “Fridays for Future,” and “Skolstrejk för klimatet,” (school strike for climate - in Swedish), a movement she founded in 2018.
Thunberg complained her name and the “FridaysForFuture movement are constantly being used for commercial purposes without” her permission. The Swedish teen thinks people are “trying to impersonate” her or “falsely claim” they represent her in order to open doors for communications with high profile celebrities, politicians, media, artists, and others.”
“This action is to protect the movement and its activities. It is also needed to enable my pro bono legal help to take necessary action against people or corporations etc who are trying to use me and the movement in purposes not in line with what the movement stands for,” Thunberg added.
Thunberg and her family plan on starting a non-profit foundation for “handling money (book royalties, donations, prize money) in a completely transparent way.”
Thunberg was named Time’s “Person of the Year” last December, and is the youngest individual to get recognition from the publisher.
Last month, the teen’s Facebook page was affected by a glitch which revealed her father, Svante Thunberg, and climate change crisis activist, Adarsh Prathap, were both writing her social media posts. But Thunberg maintains she writes all of her own content.
Thunberg spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last week, telling world leaders to “immediately end fossil fuel subsidies” now.
“Our house is still on fire. Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour,” Thunberg warned. “We are still telling you to panic, and to act as if you loved your children above all else.”
