On Sunday, the FBI released another report about allegations against far-left representative Ilhan Omar. The DFL-endorsed candidate for Congress had been accused of marrying her brother to obtain a green card visa, as well as a list of other crimes which include immigration and tax fraud.

According to the report, two FBI agents held an hours-long meeting in mid-October as a concerned party came forward, handing over evidence against Omar’s 2009 marriage.

The agents discussed concerns over the Somali-born Democrat, and her marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen. Rumor has it that Elmi was her brother and that the purpose of the marriage was for Omar to access a green card visa and study in America.

The story first broke out in a report from The Blaze on January 16. The media outlet reported that ICE has been involved with the investigation about Omar’s questionable marriage, as well as a list of other crimes “eight instances of perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, up to eight years of state and federal tax fraud, two years of federal student loan fraud, and even bigamy,” The Blaze wrote.

The media outlet added that the Department of Education is also looking into the marriage, as they try to investigate if Omar was motivated to facilitate federal student loan fraud.

The accusation was even further confirmed by the New York Post, stating that the federal bureau had already been involved. Based on the discussions, the agents both agreed to submit the information with the U.S. immigration and the U.S. Department of Education, however, both institutions did not commit to opening an investigation.

According to the New York Post “If Omar did marry her brother, she could be found guilty of committing marriage fraud—a felony offense punishable with a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to $250,000.”

Omar, who was born in Somalia was forced to flee her country in 1997 during the height of Somalia’s civil war. Omar then settled into the Cedar-Riverside in Minneapolis. When she was just19 years old, the representative married Ahmed Hirsi who was 22, in a faith tradition in Minnesota.

In 2008, Omar and Hirsi were divorced after having two children together. The next year, Omar who was already 26, remarried, to Elmi who was just 23.

That’s when the controversy begins.

Elmi who was identified as a “British citizen”, studied at North Dakota State University, based on his school records. Eventually, the pair split and Omar again reconciled with Hirsi, in which they had their third child.

Once again, Omar married Hirsi, in their “faith tradition” in Minnesota, although the marriage wasn’t legal. The problem is that Hirsi and Omar filed a joint tax together, even when her previous marriage to Elmi hasn’t been formalized.

Finally, in October of last year, Omar filed a divorce with Ahmed Hirsi. There had been speculations that she was having an affair with Tim Mynett, a DC political consultant. A source close to the Minneapolis Somali community said that the pair had broken up before Omar asked Hirsi for divorce.

In November, Omar was caught leaving the same Washington DC apartment as Mynett. Despite the long list of allegations, Omar’s camp claimed that all the allegations were just “conspiracy theory”. However, up until this time, Omar refused to answer all the questions and allegations thrown at her.
