In what could have been the lengthiest two-hour opening speech, Senate Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) claimed that Trump had pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter for his own political benefit. The only problem? No one is listening.

The Democrats were given a total of 24 hours spread out over a course of three days to lay out the case against the president’s abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. This would’ve allowed the prosecution to highlight gaps that would be answered by additional witnesses. Schiff claimed that he had more evidence, such as emails and witnesses to disclose the “full” truth about abuse and corruption in the White House.

Schiff said: “When the Ukrainian president did not immediately assent, President Trump withheld two official acts to induce the Ukrainian leader to comply—a head of state meeting and military funding. President Trump withheld hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to a strategic partner at war with Russia to secure foreign help with his re-election, in other words, to cheat.” The only problem is that instead of encouraging interest in the case, it was the opposite. In fact, Sen. Rand Paul brought his own crossword puzzle to work on, while Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel tries to stifle a yawn before paying attention.

Other senators also shared the same sentiment as the entire arguments dragged on. The presentation will continue for another eight hours on Thursday and Friday before the President’s counsel will start their own 24 hours to lay out their arguments.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Hollywood figures try to use their influence to spread the idea of a “cover-up” conspiracy, after Democrats had failed to convince the Senate to approve the amendment that would allow them to bring additional witnesses.

Actress Bette Midler tweeted: “I know I shouldn’t be surprised by Mitch McConnell’s coverup, but still it shocks me that a man who looks like a character from the beloved “The Wind in the Willows” can be so fucking corrupt!”

John Cusack also claimed that “democracy is dying.” In his tweet Cusack said

“Pound this message. Everyone! The senate is covering up for trump — so the senate is on trial — and democracy hangs in balance — everything else is strict bullshit,” He later added, “No evidence no witness no trial — Senate is covering up — democracy rule of law dying.”

Seinfeld star Jason Alexander tweeted “I thought deep down that conscience and integrity would move them when the moment of and for truth arrived. Tragically for our country, it was just a dream.”

Other stars also chimed in from Rob Reiner and Alec Baldwin who claimed that the president should be impeached again. However, the defense remains confident, claiming that everything the Democrats have laid is based on hearsay. In fact, Jay Sekulow asked the prosecution why they needed additional documents when they have enough time to present their case.
