A “Mayor Pete” event held by black leaders in South Bend Indiana turned ugly Wednesday night when a white protester wearing a “Black Lives Matter” t-shirt disrupted the proceedings. After yelling his concerns, he rushed the podium and stole the microphone away from local councilwoman Sharon McBride. The microphone had to be physically wrestled away from him by Buttigieg supporters.

Once the white protester had control of the mic, he yelled at the black attendees, “Who chose these people as the black leaders?” Who organized this?” After the mic was wrestled away and he was being escorted out he started chanting by himself, “THIS IS A FARCE!” The highlight of the melee was an elderly woman cocking back her cane to try and hit the protester over the head.

  The racial tensions in South Bend, IN stem from a shooting earlier this year where a white police officer, Ryan O’Neill, shot and killed a black man, Eric Logan, after he refused to drop a knife. Because of this and the resulting outrage, Buttigieg, who is doing well in many polls, is struggling mightily to garner any support from the black community around the country.
