Newsweek Political Reporter Fired for Fake News Story Belittling President Trump
Newsweek political reporter Jessica Kwong has been fired after publishing a story on Thanksgiving morning with a headline reading headline, “How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and more”. What the President was actually doing was making a surprise visit to Afghanistan to serve US troops a Thanksgiving meal.
#NEW on @OANN: @Newsweek reporter @JessicaGKwong who wrote an article saying @realDonaldTrump was "tweeting, golfing, and more' while the Pres. was actually serving Thanksgiving dinner to American troops in Afghanistan, 'has been terminated' from her job.

Kwong claimed it has been an “honest mistake” but did not apologize for her Fake News story. The headline was slightly adjusted but the tweeting and golfing part was kept in. A spokesperson for Newsweek said, “The story has been corrected, and the journalist responsible has been terminated. We will continue to review our processes and, if required, take further action.”

Both President Trump and Donald Trump Jr. posted comments on the situation. Trump Jr. panned the story as “fake news” and said it wasn’t an “honest mistake”. Meanwhile, President Trump joked, “I thought Newsweek was out of business?”
