AOC Raises an “Unprecedented” Amount of Money for Reelection
Politicians have reported how much they have raised for reelection and freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has raised $1.4 million, out-raising party leadership such as Nancy Pelosi and Adam “Shifty” Schiff. Observers are calling this an “unprecedented” political fundraising campaign from such a young, inexperienced congress person.
While many try to belittle a progressive agenda that centers working people & the public good, in truth it’s more powerful than ever.

I haven’t picked up a phone once this year to dial for dollars, & I don’t meet w/ corp lobbyists.
That is the power of your grassroots support. https://t.co/BDxvMETBnS
The $1.4 million AOC raised beat Pelosi, who has raised $1.26 million, Schiff, who has raised $1.1 million and other more well-established and high profile Democrats such as Jerry Nadler who raised $860K. She even doubled up fellow “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib who has raised around $700K.

This is a slap in the face to Democratic leadership such as Pelosi who has belittled AOC, her “Squad” and their influence in Congress. After the “Squad” voted against Pelosi earlier in the year the aging party leader said of AOC, “’All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world, but they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
All these fundraising numbers have been far surpassed by top Republican congressmen. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) has raised $3.45 million and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) has received over $2.6 million in donations.
