President Trump won the presidency in 2016, in part, by promising to get better deals for the American people. He has done this in many instances including ripping up the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and getting a better deal negotiated. The new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has been signed by all three countries involved and is not just waiting to be ratified by congress. Unfortunately, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is standing in the way yet again. Because of this President Trump has said if the deal does not go through, “I wouldn’t blame them at all and that’s okay. We’ll just blame Nancy.”

On Monday President Trump told reporters if the deal does not get done, it will be her fault. Speaking from the Oval Office he said, “It’s sitting on Nancy Pelosi’s desk. She’s incapable of moving it, it looks like. She can’t.” He continued, “Everybody knows it’s a great deal. She knows it’s a great deal, she said it. She keeps saying she wants to get it done but we’re talking about many months sitting on her desk, no votes.”

The President also said that most Democrats “and I guess all of the Republicans” would vote in favor of the better deal. “All she has to do is say we are putting it up for a vote, like immediately,” Trump went on to say. “You’re going to have Mexico and Canada pull it pretty soon. And if they do, it’s her fault, not mine. We gave you a great deal.”

Pelosi excused her obstructionism by saying, “House Democrats have insisted that hard-working Americans need more from the USMCA than just the same broken NAFTA with better language but no real enforcement.” This statement rings false to many including both Mexico and Canada who are pushing Pelosi to ratify the deal, which is obviously not a priority with the Democrat’s impeachment witch hunt still ongoing.
