Members of the Left Turn On Obama After He Warns Them About Going Too Far Left
Members of the Left are criticizing former president Obama after he cautioned the Dems about getting too radical with their proposals.
On Friday at the Democracy Alliance in Washington, D.C., Obama warned the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates that most voters don’t want to “tear down the system” and “just don’t want to see crazy stuff.”
Obama didn’t mention any specific proposals or specific candidates, but he warned that the average voter doesn’t have the same views as “certain left-leaning Twitter feeds of the activist wing of our party.”
“Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision, we also have to be rooted in reality. The average American doesn’t think we have to completely tear down the system and remake it,” said Obama.
Over the weekend, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders addressed Obama’s comment by stating, “I’m not tearing down the system.”
Soon after, members of the Democratic party turned on Obama and took to social media using the hashtag #TooFarLeft, which went viral.
Hillary Clinton’s former adviser Peter Daou began using the hashtag #TooFarLeft. Daou explained,” I launched the #TooFarLeft tag because I’ve had it with Republicans, media elites, and corporate Dems enabling fascists while denigrating those who seek economic and social justice as ‘too far left.’ I’d like to ONCE hear them complain America is too far right.”
TOO. FAR. LEFT.

I launched the #TooFarLeft tag because I've had it with Republicans, media elites, and corporate Dems enabling fascists while denigrating those who seek economic and social justice as "too far left."
I'd like to ONCE hear them complain America is too far right.
“I’m #TooFarLeft because I want kids to be safe in school. I’m #TooFarLeft because I want people to live in dignity. I’m #TooFarLeft because I seek justice and equality. I’m #TooFarLeft because I think healthcare and housing are human rights,” Daou wrote.
CONFESSION: I'm Too Far Left™

I'm #TooFarLeft because I want kids to be safe in school.
I'm #TooFarLeft because I want people to live in dignity.
I'm #TooFarLeft because I seek justice and equality.
I'm #TooFarLeft because I think healthcare and housing are human rights.
Peter Daou’s wife Leela Daou also expressed her disagreement with Obama’s comments on Twitter.
I'm #TooFarLeft because I want black and brown children to grow and thrive and meet their fullest potential.

I'm #TooFarLeft because I want black and brown children to feel free to BE CHILDREN and not live with the burden of fear and oppression.
Even Minnesota Rep.Ilhan Omar used the hashtag #TooFarLeft in her Twitter post.
If being #TooFarLeft means believing:

✅ Healthcare is a human right
✅ Future generations should live on a healthy planet
✅ All student debt should be cancelled
✅ The minimum wage should be $15
✅ Lives depend on gun reform
✅ Families don’t belong in cages
Count me in! 💪🏽
There is no such thing as #TooFarLeft.
