In an interview with CBS news, rock star Bruce Springsteen decided to share his thoughts on President Trump. The New Jersey native and apparent “what is means to be American” expert told Gayle King in the interview that President Trump “doesn’t have a grasp of the deep meaning of what it means to be an American.”

Springsteen expanded on his Trump opinions during the interview saying, “It’s just frightening, you know? We’re living in a frightening time. The stewardship of the nation is, has been, thrown away to somebody who doesn’t have a clue”.

The comments do not come completely out of leftfield. President Trump brought up Springsteen and fellow New Jersey icon Jon Bon Jovi performing at Hillary Clinton events in 2016. At his Minneapolis rally on October 10, the President said, “They got Bruce Springsteen. He’d do about two songs, then leave, and what happens? Everyone leaves with him… Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Trump also fired up the huge Minnesota crowd by saying “I didn’t need Beyoncé and Jay-Z. And I didn’t need “Little” Bruce Springsteen and all those people!” This was in reference to all the celebrities Hillary Clinton trotted out in support of her campaign in 2016 yet still lost to President Trump by a decisive margin.
